50Hertz Netzquartier, Berlin (DE)
The 50Hertz Netzquartier is located at the intersection of the new Europacity and the heterogeneously grown quarter around the Hamburger Bahnhof. The volumetric thoughts from Astoc’s master plan are basically adopted, but interpreted somewhat more freely. Both new connecting roads between Minna-Cauer-Straße and Invalidenstraße lead from Europaplatz to the Kunstcampus via partially covered, square-like rooms. The high permeability and the dynamics achieved by the “dancing” edges justify the greater height development.
The representative foyer is accessed via the south-facing forecourt, while a large glass wall allows the art to appear inside and outside. In the direction of Heidestraße, there is a connectible conference room for larger events. Towards the art campus joins the company restaurant with its outdoor area. The spatially attractive conference area on the upper floor is only a short distance away. A differentiated, partly two-storey sequence of closed rooms and open foyer zones with an integrated cafeteria enables conferences of any size to be held. The Executive Board area is also centrally located on these two floors. The upper floors contain the “normal” office areas. A central core with vertical connections and ancillary rooms is surrounded by a highly flexible and space-efficient working landscape that can be freely organized.
