Awarded: Vienna Timber Construction Award Wienwood 2021

We are immensely pleased about the “Wienwood 21” award for our elementary school Christian-Bucher-Gasse in Vienna! A great recognition of our efforts to establish wood in school construction in Vienna as well. We join the jury and also wish for “more trust in the technological and pedagogical abilities of timber construction” here.

“The renovation and extension of the elementary school took place during ongoing school operations. This was only possible because of the high level of prefabrication in timber construction. From the outside, the new buildings are clearly recognisable by their wooden façades made of spruce slats laid alternately horizontally and vertically. A suspended wooden construction creates a beautiful covered, column-free entrée in the area of the main entrance. The event hall with a visible roof truss made of glulam and the wood-clad gymnasiums have created atmospherically beautiful spaces. For this and for the urbanistically convincing building figure, the school receives an award,” the jury praised our project.
