Sports Center, Hittisau (AT)

The new football field is part of the leisure park on the Bolgenach river of Hittisau. The timber construction was desired by the E5 community and driven by the advantage of the short construction time. Massive strip foundations support the wooden construction, partly visible. The use of finishing was reduced; robust materials are predominant. Oiled OSB boards and PU floors underline the concept. Outside and inside (in the public area) surfaces are made of white fir from regional stocks. Only the outdoor living areas are done in concrete.
Due to space constraints, the club building could not be located on the long side. Therefore it was built on the narrow side of the sports field, composed as a long stretched, single-story and barrier-free volume. The largest possible artificial turf pitch on the existing property with approx. 58 x 100 m was opened in July 2011.
