Seequartier – Train Station & Hotel, Bregenz (AT)

The 20,000 m² area of the existing railway station will give way for the so-called Seequartier, a trend-setting combination of apartments, offices, shops and public transport, connecting city center and suburb.
A new train station will form the heart of the Seequartier with a terminal for public transport. The ‘lake clasp’, an overpass to Lake Constance, will remain. The bus station is located between the planned high-rise, the train station and the L190. A new square is designed as a ‘shared place’ for buses and pedestrians alike.

After extensive pre-planning, Vorarlberg, the capital city of Bregenz and ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG have signed a basic agreement for the construction of the new Bregenz railway station. The aim is to completely redesign the station during ongoing operations. The existing facility will be converted into a modern, functional transport hub that links regional and international transport connections with urban traffic. If the upcoming planning and contracting processes are on schedule, preparatory work can start in 2021.

The start of construction of the Seequartier (14,000 m² sales area, 2,000 m² office space and about 60 rental apartments on the top floors) is yet to be decided.
