Lakeside Office, Bregenz (AT)

The tower-shaped building was erected at the meeting point of large-scale urban fabric and a more diffuse built-up area. The main element is developed in an L shape from the end of the plot, until it reaches the existing building. It encloses a public square, offering a calm entrance away from the road. The shops are located on the ground floor and the offices on the other five floors, with an extension above the underground parking entrance. A three-story building has replaced a dilapidated structure situated between the new and the existing buildings. Its well-proportioned façade boasts French windows and encases shops on the ground floor and two apartments on the upper level.
The facades of the office tower are fully glazed, while the concrete ceiling rests on slender cylindrical columns. Their ends are emphasized by the façade design so that the storys become more pronounced. With its precision, the building corresponds to the facades of the new buildings built on the port, contributing to the unification of the urban lakefront.
