Headquarter Erweiterung C2, München (DE)

What makes a campus? How do we create a connection between the employees in the buildings? How can we achieve a sense of togetherness? These questions guided us throughout the entire design process. The existing headquarters – two spacious, interconnected building blocks – opens out onto the street and the green forecourt. Our design forms the right counterpart to unite the buildings into a campus despite the separating street. A bridge connects the existing building with our new building on the other side of the street. The final new building creates an inviting, green square that marks the new entrance to the campus.

Inspiring, flexible spaces
We want to create inspiring spaces and a pleasant working environment with maximum flexibility and functional perfection. The technology is robust but kept to a minimum in order to ensure a sustainable and efficient building with low operating costs and a long service life. The high level of flexibility inside is an important part of sustainability: the building can adapt to different scenarios, from high levels of external letting to exclusive use by the company, and thus respond to changing requirements and needs.

Wood and clinker in harmonye
The timber façade picks up on the lines of the existing building, the colour scheme of the dark clinker bricks is continued. This gives the new building an independent character while still forming a harmonious unit with the existing structure. Photovoltaic elements are integrated into the façade, which not only produces green electricity, but also intelligently reduces the amount of openings to prevent overheating in summer. Grid-like, green structures at the height of the upper storeys ensure natural cooling of the façades.
Apart from the components in contact with the ground and the access cores made of reinforced concrete, the new building is a timber construction.
