Namics Headquarter, St. Gallen (CH)

The office building occupies a hollow area near some historical buildings. The transparency created by the circulation passages, placed at each end, and the large glazed facades render the surrounding topography perceptible and anchor the building to the urban fabric.
The main entrance is on the street level with a loweredentrance court that leads to a floor where the double height reception and several conference rooms can be found. The spaces open on to the low entrance court on the street side and a small island court on the inside and are flooded with natural light. This configuration installs an entrance sequence in transparency and serenity. The open space offices on the upper floors benefit from the light coming from the north.
On the southern facade, the projecting frames of the bays vary the intensity of the light in the individual offices, the conference rooms and relaxation areas. The wood used for the carpentry contrasts with the sanded concrete facing that recalls the stone facades of the surrounding buildings.
